Product Details

Carinotetraodon irrubesco is an adorably small pufferfish from Indonesia. They are related to the popular Pea puffers (C. travancoricus) and grow slightly bigger, to about 2". These little carnivores should be fed hard-shelled foods such as snails, shrimp, crayfish, etc. regularly to wear down their ever-growing beak. They are also fond of soft foods such as bloodworms, mysis/brine shrimp, repashy, etc. While it is unlikely they will ever take dried foods, it is not impossible. Like most puffers, they are aggressive and somewhat difficult to house with other fish, so it's recommended to keep them alone. A male can be kept with a harem of females given sufficient space (say a 20 gallon long or more) but males are quite territorial with each other. Perfect if you want a pufferfish but don't have space for their larger relatives!

This is a batch of subadults, around 1" long. There are both males and females available; we cannot guarantee sexes as males may masquerade as females to avoid conflict.
